What is a Master’s program?

A university Master’s program is a postgraduate course for advanced scientific training and high-level education. It is designed to assist recent graduates in entering the job market and to help professionals update their skills in a rapidly evolving sector. The I Level Master’s program (60 ECTS) is open to students with at least a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent qualification).

How much does the Master’s program cost?

Thanks to the Emilia-Romagna Region, the tuition fee for the second edition is €4,016 (instead of €8,500). An additional non-refundable application fee of €25 is required for the selection process.

What are the admission requirements?

To be admitted to the “Food & Wine Tourism” Master’s program, the following qualifications are required:

Educational qualifications:

All first-level degree classes (as per D.M. n. 509/99 and D.M. n. 270/04);
Degrees obtained under pre-reform regulations D.M. n. 509/99;
Equivalent qualifications.

English language proficiency: at least B1 level.

Is it necessary to have a valid language certification?

No, it is not mandatory. Language proficiency will be assessed during the selection interview. The submission of language certificates is optional.

How long does the Master’s program last?

The “Food & Wine Tourism” Master’s program is a one-year program, running from January 2026 to December 2026. Classes will take place approximately from January to May, followed by a 400-hour internship from April to December. The program will end with the presentation of the final thesis in December 2026.

Is it possible to attend the Master’s program online?

The “Food & Wine Tourism” Master’s program will be delivered in a blended format, including:

Online live-streamed classes;
Experiential activities such as company seminars, educational workshops, case analysis, and company visits will take place in person for 5 consecutive days. Additionally, a six-day study trip is scheduled approximately at the end of the online teaching activity.

Is attendance mandatory?

Attendance of at least 75% of the total teaching hours is mandatory as the Master’s program confers an accredited academic degree.

When and where are the classes held?

Classes will be held online via the Teams platform, from January 2026 until approximately May 2026, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays (full-time, 7 hours). Experiential learning will be conducted in person in the Modena area and sorrounding areas. The Master’s program will cover the cost of any necessary travel transportation and participation fees for these experiential activities. All other expenses are borne by the students.

Can I attend the Master’s program if I don’t live in Emilia-Romagna?

Yes, all courses offered by UNIMORE, including this Master’s program, are open to residents of Emilia-Romagna as well as to Italian, European, and international students. This Master’s program will be delivered via live streaming to accommodate students regardless of the place of residence, with physical presence necessary only for hands-on and immersive activities.

Attendance is nevertheless required both for the live-streamed lessons (which will only be accessible in real time, as no recordings will be available) and for the experiential learning activities, which must be attended in person and will take place for 5 consecutive days. In order to be awarded the Master’s Diploma, it is necessary to have attended at least 75% of the total teaching hours.

Is the internship mandatory?

Students not currently employed are required to complete a 400-hour internship, which is scheduled to take place between April and December 2026, after the completion of classes. Working students can request recognition of their work experience and substitute the internship with a written project.

How much does the Master’s program cost?

When is the first instalment of the tuition fee due?

The first instalment is due upon enrollment, within 12 days after the publication of the admission ranking. The second installment is due by February 25, 2026.

Can the tuition fee be paid in instalments?

The tuition fee can be paid in a maximum of two instalments: the first upon enrollment and the second by February 25, 2026 .

Is the tuition fee the same for everyone, or does it vary based on ISEE, like university fees?

The tuition fee is the same for all students and does not vary based on ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator).

Can I get a reduction in the tuition fee?

No, there are no reductions available. Only for the second edition, the fee is already significantly reduced (€4,016 instead of the regular price of €8,500) thanks to the Emilia-Romagna Region.

When can I apply for the Master’s program?

The application deadline for the selection process is November 27, at 1:00 PM. To apply, candidates must submit their application by the deadline through the Esse3 Unimore platform. More information is available on the admission page.

Can I apply if I graduate after the application deadline?

Candidates who have not yet graduated by the application deadline but plan to do so before the enrollment deadline (within 12 days after the publication of the admission ranking) may be admitted provisionally.

Can I enroll in and attend the Master’s program if I am already enrolled in another degree program course or Master’s program?

Can working students enrol in the Master’s program?

Absolutely. The Master’s classes will be held online in streaming mode, on Thurdays, Fridays and Saturdays, to facilitate the participation of working students and allow them to balance professional and academic commitments.

How do I apply for the Master’s program?

To apply for the Master’s program, you have to apply through the Esse3 Unimore website. The call for applications details the admission and enrollment procedures and includes technical guides.

What is the difference between application and enrollment?

Before attending the Master’s program, you must apply for selection, expressing your intention to join. Since spots are limited, the selection committee will assess qualifications and conduct interviews to produce an admission ranking. If you are deemed eligible for admission, you must confirm your intention to participate by completing the enrollment process.

When can I submit my application for the Master’s program?

The call for applications expires on November 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM.

The application deadline has passed; can I still submit my application?

No, except if the deadline has been extended. Any updates will be communicated via the Master’s program website.

What does the selection and evaluation process involve?

The selection process is divided into two stages:

Evaluation of the curriculum and qualifications (degree grade, participation in other Master’s programs or courses, professional experience, any certifications, etc.) attached to the application.
An oral interview aimed at understanding the candidates’ motivations for the Master’s program and verifying their English language proficiency (at least B1).

No specific preparation is required, nor are explicit texts recommended for preparation.

Can I conduct the motivational interview remotely?

Yes, the admission interview for the Master’s program will be conducted remotely for all candidates, according to procedures communicated via email to those admitted to the interview. Note: there will be a short period between the admission notification and the interview. We advise all applicants to monitor the email address provided during the application process in the days following the application deadline (November 27, 2025).

How are the local experiential activities organized?

Starting this year, the 5 consecutive days of practical and experiential activities in the Modena area and surrounding areas will depart from and return to Modena each day. In addition, the Master’s program will cover transportation costs, participation fees, and any scheduled tastings. Students are responsible for any additional costs (e.g., meals).

How is the study trip organized?

The six-day study trip will be based in Modena for both departure and return and will follow an itinerary through non-local areas that offer a highly educational, hands-on experience. The Master’s program covers transportation, participation fees, tastings (where included), and hotel accommodation in double rooms. Students are responsible for any additional expenses (e.g., meals and personal outings).

Are expenses for visits and experiences at partner companies covered by the student?

No, there are no additional costs. All transportation and participation fees expenses for visits and experiences at partner companies are included in the Master’s program fee. All other expenses are borne by the students.

Who teaches the courses?

The Master’s Scientific Committee ensures the participation of highly specialised professors, researchers, and experts in the Food & Wine sector, providing advanced and multidisciplinary training on the topics covered by the Master’s program. The faculty is available on the Teachers page.

Will I receive a certificate upon completing the Master’s program?

Upon completion of the program, a Professional University Master’s Diploma in “Food & Wine Tourism” will be awarded. Awarding the diploma is contingent upon being in good standing with tuition and fees, attending at least 75% of the instructional hours, completing the internship, and passing the intermediate assessments and final exam.
